It is difficult to describe the taste of water, the smell of air, the feeling of standing on both feet. It is also difficult to understand and describe what democracy is when you are born into this system. An imprecise form of being heard and participating, but less imprecise than many others. A system of rights, protections and obligations that should give everyone a voice. An implicit institution that claims its value when it is threatened. KUNSTZELLE asked artists and cultural practitioners to represent, describe, express democracy using only words.
