“Barrer, sweep, spazzare, balayer, saróo, verrere, wers”

“Kehren und Zurückkehren” invites us on a journey into the world of the act of sweeping — beginning with its most mystical side, at times associated with witchcraft, passing through fairy tales such as Cinderella, Snow White, and Gretel, all the way to our current society, where sweeping becomes a subject of critique and a lens through which to explore gender, labor, social movements, historical memory, politics, and the poetic vision of the act itself.

The exhibition offers a critical reading through the act of sweeping and the symbol of the broom, where artists will present — through their works — the different facets of sweeping: its mystical, social, documentary, historical, environmental, spiritual, geographic, and symbolic dimensions.

Kehren und Zurückkehren is a dialogue in the act of sweeping — a form of writing that simultaneously gives us a record of ourselves.
