With ‘Koloman Kann: Andere Baustelle…’, the Kunstverein SUPER is showing a series of paintings by the Viennese artist. Using his methods of picture-in-picture interlacing, of alienated repetitions, Kann portrays a long-time friend in his apartment, which is undergoing extensive renovations. The titles of the pictures indicate that apparently nothing has been missed. Will the fleeting aesthetics be used as an opportunity to reflect on the alternating relationships between incompleteness and perfectionism? Will we take the opportunity to perceive both the chronicle-like quality and the simultaneity of this painting? Or simply the humorous but affectionate gaze of a close friend?
